Revelation Keywords: Part 2 Reference Appendix

Revelation Words and Tokens · Part 2 reference appendix

This appendix makes the weekly model reproducible. It preserves the complete keyword inventory, gives each calendar assignment, and states how the numerical and biblical comparisons are being made.

Read the argument in Revelation’s Keywords on the Calendar. The main article and this appendix together replace the earlier Part 2. The source inventory remains the controlling dataset: 20 church, 22 seal, 10 thunder, 16 trumpet, and 12 bowl occurrences.

Part 2 · Main discussion

In this appendix

A. The full occurrence inventory

The expanded index includes thunders and runs from 1 to 80. The companion index omits that family and runs from 1 to 70. Within the expanded sequence, churches occupy 1–20; seals 21–42; thunders 43–52; trumpets 53–68; and bowls 69–80. References and the two index columns are retained from the original master table.

The seal family includes the noun σφραγίς, the verb σφραγίζω, and the compound κατασφραγίζω in Revelation 5:1. The trumpet family combines σάλπιγξ and σαλπίζω. In the published ordering, the six trumpet nouns come before the ten trumpet verbs. The whole inventory is organized by family, so passage references can move backward when a new family or subgroup begins.

A plural word still counts as one occurrence. The “seven thunders” do not supply seven separately transcribed messages. Likewise, an entry within the sealing of the 144,000 counts the specified word, not the people being sealed. The grammar codes below reproduce the source’s morphological labels; they are not additional Greek words and have not been independently re-collated for this revision.

In the grammar column, N means noun and V means verb. The following letters describe features such as case, gender, number, tense, voice, or mood. The count and reference can be followed without decoding those abbreviations. The source’s description of entry 35 as “Four thousand were sealed” is corrected descriptively to the 144,000 context of Revelation 7:4; the occurrence, its index, and its grammar code remain unchanged.

B. The full weekly calendar

The first modeled week is position 0, Nisan 1–7. Each following position begins seven days later. The inclusive range lists the seven named dates belonging to a band; its end boundary is the beginning of the next date. For example, Nisan 8–14 ends at the boundary beginning Nisan 15.

All dates below belong to the study’s 364-day calendar. Months follow the repeated pattern 30–30–31. Nisan 1 is assigned Wednesday; Saturdays are therefore the fourth dates of their respective weeks. The Saturday column supplies the date of the chosen noon marker, not an independently demonstrated clock midpoint.

Position 0 is an opening model band. Positions 1–80 correspond to the counted words. The later closing band, position 81, would occupy Tishri 22–28 of year 2; Parts 4 and 5 develop that extension. It adds a modeled bookend, while the lexical inventory remains 80.

A reproducible rule

Let position 0 begin at elapsed day 0. Position i begins at day 7i, ends at day 7(i + 1), and contains seven named dates. To convert an elapsed day into a calendar date, divide by 364 to obtain the year and use the remainder within twelve months of lengths 30, 30, 31, repeated four times. This reproduces all 80 published weekly assignments. The final cell of the original compact table truncated position 78’s ending date as “Tis”; the rule supplies the missing day 7.

The full sequential table replaces the original arrangement in seven vertical columns. That layout grouped thirteen weeks down each column. Reformatting it does not reorder the occurrences or change their calendar positions.

C. Day names, boundaries, and reference markers

The weekday attached to a date does not by itself specify the instant when that date begins. The study compares two idealized conventions: a named day beginning in the morning and a named day beginning on the preceding evening. The illustration uses 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. to make the twelve-hour difference visible. Actual sunrise and sunset vary and are not calculated here.

ConventionWeek beginsWeek endsExact midpoint or marker
Evening boundaryTuesday, 6 p.m.Next Tuesday, 6 p.m.Saturday, 6 a.m.
Morning boundaryWednesday, 6 a.m.Next Wednesday, 6 a.m.Saturday, 6 p.m.
Shared comparison markerSaturday noonWithin both Saturday daylight periodsChosen marker; not both exact midpoints

In both descriptions, Saturday is the fourth named day. The exact halfway instant through 168 elapsed hours differs by twelve hours, however. Saturday noon is six hours after one midpoint and six hours before the other. Its value is as a common daylight comparison marker. A statement about the middle day, the middle instant, or this chosen marker must say which is intended.

The Creation-week comparison uses another starting convention. If the first named day begins on Saturday evening, the middle of seven complete days is Wednesday morning. If the week instead begins on Sunday morning, its elapsed midpoint is Wednesday evening. Genesis places the luminaries on the fourth day; it does not supply a modern clock time for their creation. “Wednesday morning” in the argument consequently identifies a model convention and a fourth-day association.

The three conceptual openings

Model openingNamed dayElapsed days from Sunday openingRole
Priestly openingSunday0The 21-day-word model and the first Creation day.
Kingly opening / position 0Wednesday3The weekly calendar and the fourth Creation day.
Lunar-associated conceptual openingFriday5A sixth-day / humanity comparison, not a fixed lunisolar rule.
First counted kingly band, position 1Following Wednesday10Three days plus the seven-day opening band.

The three-day and five-day offsets in this table concern aligned named days under a common boundary rule. If an evening-to-morning shift is then introduced, it must be added separately. The ten-day distance from the Sunday opening to position 1’s Wednesday opening is 3 + 7. It is not 10½ days. The latter is a distinct interval obtained only after specifying an additional half-day adjustment.

On the year scale, the ten-unit difference can compare 70 × 7 = 490 with 10 + 490 = 500. These are the totals of ten 49-year and ten 50-year constructions, respectively. The relationship is a numerical proposal within the study. It does not settle historical disagreements about whether a Jubilee year overlaps the next cycle.

D. Which duration is being counted?

Jubilee comparison with ten-unit opening offset10 + 490500 unitsA separate offset; 10 is not 10½.

Inclusive counts are especially easy to confuse when a token represents a whole band. Six occupied weeks have a width of 42 days. Their first and last starting boundaries, however, are only five weeks apart. Similarly, position 40 is numerically half of 80, but the central pair in a list numbered 1–80 is 40 and 41. Adding an opening band changes the number of occupied bands and therefore changes the midpoint of the total span.

The initial 0–80 weekly construction has 81 occupied bands. Later use of both opening and closing bookends gives 82. Neither step changes the count of Greek occurrences. A full 364-day year returns the model from the start of position 0 to the start of position 52; the latter already belongs to year 2.

E. Festival and narrative comparisons

The following table gathers the principal correspondences developed in the main article. A biblical calendar date, an assigned model week, and a thematic analogy are shown as separate parts of the comparison.

8021:9Tishri 15–21, year 2TabernaclesThe bowl angel introduces the bride and New Jerusalem.

The first seal’s Tishri opening also invites a Creation comparison. A rabbinic tradition recorded in Leviticus Rabbah 29:1 associates the first day of the seventh month with Adam’s creation and judgment. In this reading, that association gives the crowned rider’s appearance a further setting of creation, rule, and accountability. The tradition supplies a theological parallel; it does not establish John’s calendar or change Tishri 1’s Wednesday position in the model.

The close of Solomon’s temple dedication supplies another contrast. Second Chronicles 7:8–10 describes the feast, its eighth-day assembly, and the people’s joyful departure on the twenty-third day of the seventh month. The assembly and departure fit within position 29’s assigned Tishri 22–28 week. Placing the fourth seal’s Death beside this scene sets covenant judgment against the joy of dwelling in God’s presence.

The seven-day Tabernacles band, Tishri 15–21, is followed by the eighth-day assembly on Tishri 22. Thus position 80 carries Tabernacles up to the boundary of the assembly; it does not contain Tishri 22 as an eighth occupied day. The later position 81 gives that next date an explicit band.

The Dedication comparison follows the same rule. With 31 days in Kislev, the eight dates beginning Kislev 25 are Kislev 25–31 and Tevet 1. The older prose’s Kislev 25–Tevet 1 description can serve as an eight-day festival range, but not as the seven-day range of position 38. The original calendar table already supplies Kislev 25–31 for that token.

The Pentecost distinction

Expanded indexWithout thundersFamily positionPassageActionAssigned week
6252Trumpet-family entry 10Revelation 8:10Third angel soundsSivan 11–17, year 2
6858Trumpet-family entry 16Revelation 11:15Seventh angel soundsTammuz 22–28, year 2

The inventory’s trumpet noun entries are positions 53–58. Its verb entries are 59–68. Position 59 is preparation to sound; positions 60 and 61 are the first and second angels sounding; position 62 is the third. The seventh angel’s sounding is the final trumpet-family entry, position 68. Retaining this ordering leaves position 62 in Sivan and position 68 in Tammuz.

The Feast of Weeks date is a separate matter. In the stated 30–30 month sequence, Nisan 26 through Sivan 15 is 50 dates counted inclusively, or 49 elapsed days between the starts. Nisan 19 through Sivan 8 gives the same fifty-date count. A Sunday firstfruits marker inside Nisan 15–21 and the Sivan 15 feast therefore belong to different starting rules. The model keeps its Sivan 15 association, with Jubilees 6:17–22 and 15:1 supplying the third-month festival setting.

The date table does not establish that Revelation’s seventh trumpet sounds during Pentecost. Its proclamation of God’s kingdom can still be compared with Pentecostal themes at a literary level. A different calendar alignment would require a separately stated ordering or starting rule and would constitute another model.

F. The Ezra comparison in full

The dates expressly named in Ezra are retained. Weekdays and Revelation token positions are supplied by this study. References to a larger message or scene are distinguished from the verse containing the counted word.

Ezra’s prayer and the call to assemble precede the dated assembly, but the text does not fix the prayer itself to the week Kislev 11–17. That connection is an approximate narrative placement. The dated assembly of Judah and Benjamin on Kislev 20 offers the more specific correspondence with position 37.

Ezra 3 describes the earlier restored altar and festival observance under Jeshua and Zerubbabel. Nehemiah 8 gives a later restoration of festival observance associated with Ezra’s reading of the law. Their themes can contribute to one literary comparison, while their historical settings remain distinct. The study also retains Ezra’s three days of rest after arrival (Ezra 8:32) and the offering of twelve bulls for all Israel (8:35) as additional resonances with ordered worship and Israel’s completeness.

The contrast between Babylon and Jerusalem develops into the contrast between the harlot and the bride in Revelation 17–21. The table traces covenant restoration and fidelity; it does not require Ezra’s marriage inquiry, the sealing of the 144,000, and the bride’s preparation to be identical events. Revelation’s imagery has its own narrative and theological setting.

G. Daniel, the 21-day ribbon, and the restoration horizon

Daniel 10:1–4 supplies three relevant details: the third year of Cyrus, three full weeks of mourning, and a vision on the twenty-fourth day of the first month. The beginning of the mourning is not independently dated. Nisan 4–24 gives 21 named dates inclusively. A 21-day elapsed interval terminating at the start of Nisan 24 would instead begin at the start of Nisan 3. The date ribbon in this study should therefore be read as a stated representation of the three-week motif.

Part 1 places the eleventh day-word occurrence in Revelation 11:3; the sanctuary measurement appears in the preceding verses. The 21-day list can thus place the sanctuary beside its central occurrence. Its entries 10–16 supply the proposed Thunder Week. In the weekly keyword list, Revelation 10:4 contributes the sealing command at position 40, and Revelation 11:15 contributes the seventh-trumpet verb at 68. A whole chapter cannot be assigned to one keyword’s week merely because it contains that word.

At the conclusion, the last three counted bands, positions 78–80, contain 21 dates, Tishri 1–21. Overlaying the priestly sequence on that span is a transposition of the pattern. The Sunday labels attached to the priestly model do not thereby become the Wednesday labels of the kingly calendar; their respective weekday conventions must remain visible.

The final 21-day ribbon

The priestly sequence can also be read across the final three counted kingly bands. This is a correspondence between numbered days and festival themes. The priestly calendar begins its named sequence on Sunday; the kingly calendar begins on Wednesday. Equal month-and-day labels in the following table therefore do not identify the same weekday or elapsed instant.

Priestly positionPriestly date labelKingly position and bandKingly date labelProposed connection
Day 1Tishri 1, Sunday78: Tishri 1–7Tishri 1, WednesdayThe opening day is compared with Trumpets and the final movement toward completion.
Day 10Tishri 10, Tuesday79: Tishri 8–14Tishri 10, FridayThe priestly tenth day is compared with Atonement within the second final band.
Days 15–21Tishri 15–21, Sunday–Saturday80: Tishri 15–21Wednesday–TuesdayThe final seven priestly dates are compared with Tabernacles and the disclosure of the bride.
Day 21: Revelation 21:25Tishri 21, Saturday80: its final named dateTishri 21, TuesdayThe prophecy’s final day-word occurrence accompanies the city’s absence of night; the model approaches the eighth-day assembly on Tishri 22.
The four selected mappings retain the earlier Part 2’s explicit final ribbon. Priestly weekdays are derived from its Sunday opening; kingly weekdays retain the Wednesday opening. These are distinct calendar conventions.

Revelation 21:25 supplies the image of the city’s open gates and the absence of night. Read at the end of the 21-position priestly sequence, it gives the transition beyond Tabernacles an image of enduring divine light. Tishri 22 belongs to the next kingly boundary and, in the later extension, position 81. It adds no twenty-second occurrence of the day word. The same 21-unit pattern thus frames the study’s Nisan opening and Tishri conclusion, expressing the proposed Alpha-and-Omega reading.

An alternative elapsed boundary descriptionStart Nisan 3 to start Nisan 2424 − 3 = 21 daysA conditional boundary reconstruction, not a new asserted biblical starting date.
Final Revelation festival ribbonTishri 1–21, positions 78–803 × 7 = 21 daysA transposition of the priestly pattern; the two calendars retain their weekday conventions.

The return from exile and the command to restore Jerusalem form the historical and theological setting in which the seventy-weeks prophecy is read. The identification of a particular decree as the start of those weeks is a further interpretive decision. A 490-year period beginning at 536 BC would end at 46 BC under ordinary elapsed-year subtraction. Moving its endpoint into the Gospel era requires a different starting point or an explicitly defined transformation; it does not follow merely from writing “Messianic era” beside 536 BC.

The proposed direction reversal remains meaningful as a literary comparison: Daniel’s restoration setting is read from autumn toward spring, while Revelation’s calendar construction runs from spring toward autumn. The exact restoration dates and the internal counts have different evidentiary roles. The 606–536 BC and 538–536 BC labels are retained as the chronological framework adopted in this study, not newly established dates for every event in Ezra and Daniel.

H. Why the seal-family totals are 22 and 32

The study’s seal family has three components: thirteen noun occurrences, one compound verb in Revelation 5:1, and eight occurrences of the simple verb. The companion Textus Receptus construction retains the same noun and compound counts but has eighteen simple-verb occurrences. The established totals remain 22 and 32.

Study’s main inventory131822
Textus Receptus companion1311832

The local difference lies in the tribal list in Revelation 7:5–8. The SBL Greek New Testament’s printed text has the sealing participle with Judah and Benjamin. In the Scrivener Textus Receptus text, the corresponding expression is repeated for every tribe. That supplies the ten additional occurrences used in the companion count. These edition readings support the local distinction without requiring a claim that every Greek manuscript has been inspected.

The verse-by-verse rows above reproduce the original source’s numbers. Its concluding summary elsewhere printed “4” and “14” for Revelation 7:3–8; the six verse cells in that same source add to 5 and 15. That internal summary discrepancy is recorded here rather than used to change the occurrence inventory or the full-family totals. The controlling 8/18 verb subtotals and 22/32 family totals remain as published.

The source’s broader claims about particular papyri, majuscules, ancient versions, manuscript families, and attributed critical-apparatus ratings require evidence beyond these two edition texts. They are not necessary to the 22/32 comparison and are not advanced here as verified findings. Likewise, the shorthand “THGNT / SRGNT 2022” in the earlier discussion is not expanded into a newly asserted textual basis. The counts remain those of the established series dataset, with this local edition comparison offered as a check on the stated difference.

Revelation’s warning about adding to or taking from the prophecy (22:18–19) can contribute to a theological reading of its words. It does not substitute for manuscript evidence. Nor does a preference for the symbolic value 22 decide which reading is earliest: textual decisions and proposed numerical resonances have to be assessed on their own evidence.

The seven “sign” occurrences

The supplementary count of seven σημεῖον occurrences is preserved: Revelation 12:1; 12:3; 13:13; 13:14; 15:1; 16:14; and 19:20. This group includes heavenly signs and deceptive signs. It is not added to the 80-token inventory. The comparison with the familiar “seven signs” reading of John concerns a selected narrative sequence in that Gospel, not a claim that John uses the Greek word σημεῖον only seven times.

I. Reference and arithmetic clarifications

The following record identifies the places where a label, explanation, or calculation in the earlier prose conflicted with its own tables or required a clearer convention. None changes the five established lexical totals.

TopicEarlier wording or issueTreatment in this replacement
First church tokenSome prose cited Revelation 1:10 as token 1.The counted church word is in 1:4; 1:10 is opening-vision context and trumpet token 53.
Third church tokenDescription conflated the stars/angels and lampstands.Revelation 1:20 first refers to the angels of the seven churches; the next church occurrence concerns lampstands.
Philadelphia / New JerusalemToken 17 was sometimes labelled 3:12.The counted church word is 3:13; the promise belongs to the preceding verse.
Token 24Prose gave Elul 20–27 and marker Elul 23.The controlling week table gives Elul 18–24 and Saturday Elul 21.
Token 35Source action label said four thousand. The verse’s setting is the 144,000. The occurrence and index are unchanged.
Token 38Prose treated Kislev 25–Tevet 1 as one seven-day band. The band is Kislev 25–31; Tevet 1 is the next boundary and the festival’s eighth date.
Token 49Prose described Revelation 10’s seventh individual thunder. The seventh thunder-word occurrence is Revelation 11:19.
Token 52Called the first year’s completion and position 53 the first of year 2.Year 1 completes at the start of position 52, which occupies year 2’s Nisan 1–7.
Tokens 62 and 68Prose placed the seventh trumpet in the Sivan week of 62.62 = third trumpet, Sivan 11–17; 68 = seventh trumpet, Tammuz 22–28.
Token 78Compact table ended its last cell at an incomplete Tis label.Tishri 7 is restored from the seven-day rule, matching the corresponding quarter rows.
Saturday noonDescribed as the exact midpoint under two boundary conventions.Retained as a common comparison marker; exact midpoints are Saturday 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. in the idealized example.
Seven-week and eighty-entry midpoint languageCentral named days, indices, and elapsed points were blended. Each measure is identified separately; the 80-entry central pair is 40/41.
Ten-day Jubilee offsetTen and ten-and-a-half were treated as interchangeable.3 + 7 = 10; a further half-day requires an additional assumption.
Year-and-a-half descriptionThe whole 80-week model was treated as exactly 1½ years.1½ × 52 = 78 weeks; 80 weeks = 560 days; with position 0, 567 days.
Firstfruits / WeeksA Sunday within Unleavened Bread was used to derive Sivan 15.Nisan 19 inclusive day 50 = Sivan 8; Nisan 26 inclusive day 50 = Sivan 15.
Daniel’s mourningNisan 4–24 presented as an expressly dated starting/ending interval. The text dates the vision and states three weeks; the ribbon’s endpoint convention is specified.
Ezra restoration scenesEzra 3 was joined directly to Ezra’s later mission. The earlier return under Jeshua/Zerubbabel and the later Ezra/Nehemiah setting remain distinct.
Seal summary subtotalsA concluding summary printed 4/14 for Revelation 7:3–8.Source verse cells add to 5/15. Both the discrepancy and unchanged overall 22/32 are recorded.
Manuscript apparatus claimsBroad witness lists and attributed quotations were presented as checked. The published edition comparison is retained; unsupported witness/quotation claims are not asserted as verified.

J. Sources and method

The original five-part series supplies the counted inventory and the proposed numerical framework. This replacement preserves those data while distinguishing occurrences, assigned positions, elapsed intervals, and interpretive comparisons. The complete original Part 2 source snapshot is included in the publication package for comparison.
